The work
At a service station in Seville with light hydrocarbons (VOCs) in the unsaturated zone, we carried out a soil vapour extraction (SVE) efficiency test. We followed the ARC (2012) guidance criteria.
We tested 4 dry extraction wells, between 7.25 and 11.08 metres deep, in one working day. We used the SOILUTIONS van-mounted portable SVE unit, with PLC and touch screen, and a Busch Mink AV1252 vacuum pump. Each test lasted between 45 and 75 minutes, with flow rates of 35 to 70 m³/h and a vacuum of −380 to −760 mbar.
