Description

The Heron dipper-T is known for its yellow polyethylene-coated steel tape, which measures water depth with great accuracy. Available in both metric and engineering scale.

The dipper-T water level meter can be conveniently converted into a multi-function instrument, not only for measuring static and drawdown head levels, but also for determining casing length and piezometer depth. The water level sensing probe can be easily removed and replaced with the piezometer casing indicator probe or the piezometer depth indicator probe. The four-fold functionality of the dipper-T water level meter makes this product an asset for groundwater professionals and rural landowners during the construction of new piezometers, their maintenance or their decommissioning.

Static mode is used to measure water depth in piezometers, boreholes and standpipes. DrawDown mode is used to measure the drop in water levels during purging, piezometer development and for low-flow sampling.

The piezometer casing indicator probe is used to measure the depth of metal casing in piezometers and boreholes of two inches in diameter and upwards. The piezometer casing indicator probe works by magnetism. While the probe is within the magnetic field of the steel casing, an audible and visual signal is activated. When the probe leaves the magnetic field, the signal stops. Take the condition of the piezometer into account for accurate readings.

The piezometer depth indicator probe (or bottom finder) is used to measure the total depth of piezometers and boreholes. The piezometer depth indicator probe uses a pressure-sensitive plunger to measure the distance to the bottom of the piezometer. When the piezometer depth indicator probe reaches the bottom of the piezometer, the plunger is pushed into the probe body, closing a switch and sending an audible and visual signal to the top of the piezometer.

To meet all your project needs, the dipper-T is now available as kits:

  • Dipper-T with depth and casing indicator probes.
  • Dipper-T with depth probe.
  • Dipper-T with casing probe.
  • Electronic module (IP65) – mode switch for static and drawdown levels, removable for easy cleaning and maintenance. Circuits and components are potted to protect them from moisture and dust ingress.
  • Sensitivity switch: to adjust for false alarms caused by the cascade effect.
  • Connector: to prevent damage to the tape, the probe is sacrificed at the joint if it becomes stuck in the piezometer.
  • Probe (IP68) – 5/8″, full pressure / depth rated *, with no holes or gaps for contaminants to build up, field-replaceable with the optional casing or depth probes.
  • Steel tape: high-strength steel, polyethylene-coated, highly break-resistant, stretch-resistant and permanently legible – markings in metric (mm) or engineering (1/100′) scale.
  • Steel tape complies with ASME B89.1.7-2009 and MIL-STD-45662A, FED GGG-T-106F and EEC Class II certification.
  • Padded carrying case: to protect your precision water level meter from the elements.
  • Handle: built-in, for resting the meter on the piezometer head, allowing hands-free positioning.
  • Guide: built-in, to protect the tape from sharp edges on the piezometer casing.
  • Vinyl grip – easy ergonomic grip.
  • Winding handle: custom-made for easy rewinding with gloved hands.
